Dr. Galeet Dardashti Artist-in-Residence Weekend

BAI is thrilled to welcome Dr. Galeet Dardashti, singer, songwriter, trailblazing artist and scholar to our community. Galeet will be leading prayer and song, speaking on Middle Eastern Music and performing with her incredible all-female ensemble, Divahn.

This artist-in-residence weekend is made possible through the generosity of CHARLSON BRABER McCABE & DENMARK. We are grateful for their support!

Schedule of Events: 
Thursday, November 17
7:30p: Dr. Dardashti leads Music Prayer Lab in an exploration of Mizrachi Sounds and Rhythms. No experience – musical, liturgical or otherwise- needed to participate. For musicians and non-musicians alike.
This event is free for all to participate! 

Friday, November 18
6:00p: Dr. Galeet will co-lead Kabbalat Shabbat infusing our tefilah with melodies from different countries. 7:15p: Community Shabbat Dinner where Galeet will talk about Middle Eastern/North African Jewish Poetic Songs (Piyyutim)—From Pulpit to Pop Chart. 
Kabbalat Shabbat is free to attend; if you’d like to join for the Community Dinner and Talk, tickets are $20/person, $50/family. 

Saturday, November 19
7:30p: Divahn in Concert. Infusing traditional and original Jewish songs with sophisticated harmonies and entrancing improvisations, today Divahn has engendered an international following, performing in venues ranging from top concert halls in Poland to the most prestigious clubs in NYC.
Tickets for this concert at $36/person. To have preferred seating and join our dessert reception with Divahn, tickets are $72/person.
